Job summary

Austin Industrial in Channelview, TX, is hiring for an on-site Hourly Craft role supporting a civil carpenter to construct, erect, and repair wood structures using hand and power tools. You will read blueprints, follow layouts, and adhere to safety rules while keeping a clean, organized worksite.

Requires 1 year journeyman-level experience, a valid driver's license and TWIC card, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds; forklift operation and painting may be needed.

Qualifications

• Experience – 1 year of Journeyman-level experience.
• Certification/License – A Valid Driver's License and TWIC Card.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in industrial environments.
• Ability to read, comprehend and follow safety procedures and job instructions.

Responsibilities

• Study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.
• Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
• Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
• Erect and destruct concrete forms, scaffolding and ramps above ground level.
• Remove damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace, using hand tools.
• Maintain records, document actions, and present written progress reports.
• Verify trueness of structure, set grade, check for plumb, etc.
• Mix, transfer and extend materials such as concrete and asphalt.
• Fabricate and install concrete reinforcing bars.
• Place and finish concrete.
• Maintain clean job site, pick up tools/equipment, secure job site each day-eliminate potential hazards.
• Be able to operate a forklift
• Be able to move or rearranging furniture.
• Be able to paint.
• Prepare water and deliver to crafts or units.
• Replace doors walls and build stairs as needed
