The Building Inspector role with Scott County focuses on safety through inspections of plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and building systems in commercial, industrial, and residential projects. You will review plans, perform field inspections, enforce codes, and document findings for records.

Ideal candidates hold ICC Building Inspector certification or be willing to obtain it within a year, plus Iowa Electrical and/or Mechanical Inspector credentials and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, plus five years of building trade or inspection experience.
• ICC Building Inspector certification or obtain within one year of employment.
• Iowa State Electrical Inspector and/or Mechanical Inspector certification or obtain within one year.
• Must possess a valid Driver's license.

Responsabilités

• Performs plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and building inspections.
• Inspects new, remodeled and repaired commercial, industrial and residential buildings and reviews plans.
• Investigates and resolves complaints, including zoning; submits inspection reports.
• Answers questions concerning building code requirements; attends required training to maintain certifications.
• Demonstrates Scott County PRIDE in actions; performs related duties as assigned.
