The City of Gulfport is seeking a Building Inspector in the Urban Development department. You will inspect new and existing buildings to enforce building, zoning, and environmental codes, and you will perform field and office duties to ensure compliance with approved plans and standards.

Non-exempt role with an hourly salary of $20.72, requiring high school or associate’s degree and 1–2 years of related inspection experience.

Qualificações

• Knowledge of federal, state and local housing, building, and zoning laws and codes.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret regulations and technical documents.
• Ability to write reports and communicate findings clearly.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to remain calm.
• Ability to interpret plans, drawings, and blueprints.

Responsabilidades

• Inspect residential, commercial, industrial buildings for code compliance.
• Review plans and specifications for code compliance.
• Inspect sites for licenses and permits and enforce regulations.
• Confer with owners and contractors and provide corrective actions.
