Job summary

The Baltimore City Mayor’s Office of Homeless Services (MOHS) seeks a dynamic Peer Recovery Specialist to provide field-based, peer-led support to individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness and co-occurring conditions. You will deliver person-centered engagement, connect clients to treatment and housing services, and travel across Baltimore City.

Work includes weekday hours with flexibility. Lived experience and recovery-oriented practice are valued; there is no supervision, but adherence

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Human Services or related field.
• At least one year of paid experience providing community-based services.
• Experience with HMIS or similar client records preferred.
• Equivalency notes: high school diploma with equivalent experience may be considered.
• Valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license required.
• Must upload a copy of a valid driver's license with the application.

Responsibilities

• Conduct outreach to individuals experiencing homelessness and connect them to services.
• Provide peer recovery support for substance use, mental health, and co-occurring conditions.
• Use trauma-informed, harm-reduction approaches and overdose-prevention education.
• Document outreach, referrals, and client outcomes in HMIS and MOHS systems.
• Collaborate with shelters, treatment providers, and community partners.
• Support emergency operations during Code Red/Code Purple weather activations.
