Job summary

The Baltimore City Mayor’s Office of Homeless Services (MOHS) seeks a dynamic Peer Recovery Specialist to provide field-based support to unsheltered individuals with co-occurring conditions. You will work 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

weekdays with possible flex shifts, traveling across Baltimore City to connect people with housing, health care, and services. Experience in social services and a valid Maryland driver’s license are required; CPRS credential is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Human Services or related field.
• At least 1 year of paid experience in social services, supportive housing, homelessness services, or related setting.
• Experience with HMIS or comparable client record system preferred.
• Valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license or equivalent; Baltimore City driver’s permit eligibility required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct street outreach throughout Baltimore City engaging clients to participate in services.
• Provide peer recovery support for individuals with substance use or mental health needs.
• Utilize trauma-informed, harm-reduction and motivational strategies to support recovery.
• Connect clients to housing, shelter, benefits, treatment, and support services; facilitate warm handoffs.
• Document outreach contacts, referrals, follow-ups, and outcomes in MOHS systems.
