Job summary

Black & Veatch Corporation is seeking an experienced field-based Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and overhaul heavy equipment. You will perform preventive maintenance on cranes, bulldozers, graders, backhoes, and other machinery, traveling to active construction sites as required.

The role emphasizes hands-on field work, strong technical troubleshooting, and adherence to safety standards. Prior leadership experience and CDL within 6 months are preferred, with ESOP and comprehensive benefits

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of experience as a Mechanic with strong knowledge of mechanics.
• At least 2 years experience in management or supervision.
• Must have working knowledge of industrial construction equipment, machines and tools.
• Unrestricted driver's license and clean MVR; Class A CDL within 6 months.
• Must be 18+ and able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (criminal/civil background check, drug screen, MVR).

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain construction equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, lubrication, fueling, oiling, and routine service on heavy equipment.
• Use tools and diagnostic equipment to identify defects and complete repairs.
• Inspect and overhaul mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, diesel, and electrical systems.
• Read and interpret manuals, drawings, and schematics to complete repairs accurately.
• Travel to project sites as needed; support training and safety initiatives.
