Job summary

Black & Veatch Corporation is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic for our field-based maintenance team. You will diagnose, repair, and overhaul mobile machinery such as cranes, bulldozers, graders, and backhoes, ensuring safety and job readiness across projects.

Travel to construction sites is required, with a focus on preventive maintenance, reliable operation, and on-site collaboration with operators and supervisors. A CDL and strong mechanical background are essential for success.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of experience as a Mechanic (A level Technician) with strong working knowledge of mechanics.
• At least 2 years experience working as a manager or supervisor.
• Must have Class A CDL (within 6 months of hire).

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain construction equipment to support safe, reliable field operations.
• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, lubrication, fueling, oiling, and routine service on heavy equipment.
• Use diagnostic tools and hand/power tools to identify defects and complete repairs.
• Inspect, repair, and overhaul mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, diesel, and electrical systems on mobile equipment.
• Travel to construction project sites as needed and support field operations.
