Job summary

ERM is seeking a Construction Safety Specialist (Field Based) to manage and continuously improve safety programs onsite at a Data Center project in Columbus, OH. The role requires hands-on oversight of high‑risk activities and strong collaboration with subcontractors to uphold safety standards.

The full-time, 12-month position emphasizes conducting risk assessments, developing job safety analyses, and maintaining incident reporting while promoting a culture of safety across the site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in safety, occupational health, engineering, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in H&S in construction; 2 years in data center construction preferred.
• Proficient with management of high-risk activities (electrical safety, excavation, fall protection, crane ops).
• Experience coordinating with subcontractors and trades; multi-employer worksites understanding.
• Experienced trainer on construction safety topics; strong audit/inspection background.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and timely reporting.

Responsibilities

• Champion a strong safety culture across the site and maximize personnel involvement.
• Provide timely, high quality safety technical support.
• Carry out regular workplace inspections to monitor compliance.
• Coordinate job safety analyses, risk assessments, and pre-task plans.
• Prepare and submit local, state, and internal reports.
• Review and track investigations of injuries and incidents; lead investigations for serious events.
• Coordinate local business continuity, emergency response, and crisis management plans.
