Job summary

KAR & Larrabee Mechanical Contractors seeks a hands-on Safety Coordinator to support safety activities on construction projects in the Gainesville, Florida area. The role involves field-based work, coaching crews, and ensuring compliance with company policies and OSHA regulations.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of construction safety experience, knowledge of construction safety practices, and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

2+ years of construction safety experience preferred.
Working knowledge of OSHA construction regulations and jobsite safety practices.
OSHA 30 Construction certification preferred
First Aid/CPR certification preferred

Responsibilities

Conduct routine jobsite safety inspections and identify unsafe conditions, behaviors, and potential hazards.
Work directly with field leadership and employees to correct safety concerns.
Monitor compliance with OSHA standards and project requirements.
Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, orientations, and training sessions.
Assist with JHAs, pre-task planning, and other safety documentation.
Monitor fall protection, ladders, scaffolding, lifts, hot work, confined spaces, and material handling hazards.
Verify appropriate PPE is used and maintained.
Investigate incidents, injuries, near-misses, and property damage.
Maintain safety records, inspection reports, and corrective-action tracking.
