The City of Lenexa is seeking a Community Standards Officer I to join the Community Development team. This 40-hour-per-week role focuses on maintaining community standards, protecting public health and safety, and ensuring a high quality of life for Lenexa residents and property owners.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with two years of code enforcement/public contact experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily field inspections to investigate complaints and perform proactive inspections.
• Track inspection details, photos, and conversations through provided software.
• Complete exterior rental inspections of single-family and multi-family properties.
• Handle incoming calls, emails, and service requests related to community standards.
• Work with Legal Department to prosecute basic code cases when needed.
• Issue abatement work orders and conduct follow-up inspections.
• Perform massage establishment inspections per City code.
• Drive to perform essential functions of the position.
