Job summary

OMNIPLEX World Services Corporation is seeking Contract Investigators who will work from a home office and travel to field locations to conduct background investigations for DHS and intelligence customers. This role requires reliable transportation and willingness to travel, with no guaranteed hours and a minimum weekly availability.

The position emphasizes rigorous interview techniques, reporting accuracy, and the ability to work independently in varying environments.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required and a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of specialized Federal Background investigative experience within the last 5 years.
• Must have some FIS experience and a reliable vehicle.
• Willing to travel on temporary duty assignments as needed (by car or plane).
• Able to pass background checks and all required training.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
• Ability to interpret instructions furnished orally, in writing, diagrams, or schedules.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
• Proficient in MS Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet and E-mail.
• Current SSBI or active Secret clearance based on an SSBI and able to obtain the required clearance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-person, one-on-one interviews to obtain factual information about background and character per agency guidelines.
• Obtain facts from various sources to produce an investigation report with pertinent information.
• Travel throughout the geographic area to conduct investigations at locations of employment, residence, and education.
• Willing to travel within 30–50 miles (or more) as needed.
• Engage with managers, contractor facilities, and U.S. government organizations to maintain relationships.
• Adapt to changing environments and interact with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Demonstrate strong verbal and written communications and maintain professional demeanor.
• Workload based on case availability in the geographic area.
• Possible voluntary temporary duty assignments to other areas (2–4 weeks).
• Other duties as required.
