Job summary

Inframark seeks a Field Automation Systems (FAS) Engineer to lead control system integration, commissioning, and customer support in the Water/Wastewater sector. The role is hands-on and field-based, requiring troubleshooting, programming PLCs and HMIs, configuring networks, and ensuring SCADA functionality.

You will coordinate with Project Managers, perform FAT/SAT, and provide on-site training while documenting progress and maintaining standards.

Qualifications

• Technical degree in engineering OR 3+ years of field service experience in instrumentation, control systems, or automation.
• Experience in the Water/Wastewater industry is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of control systems, PLC programming, and SCADA applications.
• Networking fundamentals, IP addressing, and communication protocols (Ethernet, Modbus, BACnet).
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&ID diagrams, and contract documents.
• Hands-on experience with control panel integration, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with customers, project managers, and team members.

Responsibilities

• Review project requirements with the Project Manager and analyze contract documents.
• Maintain clear communication with Project Managers; report task status, milestones, and budget concerns.
• Produce accurate documentation (timesheets, trip reports, system updates).
• Follow Best Practices, Development Standards, and Procedures for high-quality execution.
• Set up system servers, workstations, OS, networks and peripherals at job sites.
• Develop System Control Narratives to define automation logic.
• Program PLCs and develop HMI applications per contract specs.
• Conduct FAT and SAT when required.
• Perform control panel commissioning and field signal wiring/IO checkout.
• Coordinate system startups; integrate PLC, HMI, instrumentation, and networking equipment.
• Provide on-site training for operators and supervisors.
• Offer on-call service support for troubleshooting and warranty issues.
• Instrument installation, calibration, and documentation; mark up drawings for final field modifications.
• Assist with integrating third-party systems into automation networks.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives; mentor junior staff.
