Job description

Job Title: Field Automation Engineer

Location: Remote (Must be located in the Boston Area). This role involves traveling to service instruments across Canada, with a travel commitment of 50% or more, primarily within Canada.

Responsibilities
  • Perform instrument installation, integration of third-party devices, and development of software applications by writing Evoware and/or Fluent scripts.
  • Diagnose problems, perform service, and preventative maintenance on Tecan instruments.
  • Develop complex software applications, including liquid classes and device integration at customer sites.
  • Provide customer training on use, application development, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Share information from unique problems or specialized training with the Field Service Team and the Tecan organization as appropriate.
  • Perform complex demonstrations and installations.
  • Maintain a travel schedule and be prepared to travel on short notice.
  • Complete service records according to company policy and within established timeframes.
  • Maintain appropriate parts inventory, check stock levels, anticipate needed supplies, and verify receipt of supplies.
  • Provide backup service support outside of the assigned territory as needed.
  • Maintain technical knowledge through educational workshops and reviewing technical publications.
  • Handle assigned tasks and respond productively to change.
  • Follow all safety procedures, OSHA regulations, and report safety concerns.

Experience
  • BSc in Life Science, Computer Science, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years laboratory experience with Evoware, Fluent, Magellan, and other Tecan software.
  • At least 3 years of robotics/automation experience and scripting.
  • Electro/mechanical experience is a plus.
  • Proficient PC skills, including MS Windows 2000/XP, Windows 7, Windows 10, and Office Suite.
