Overview

Join the ITility team and make a difference! ITility seeks a talented Quality Assurance & Test Automation Engineer to support our contract with the United States Military Entrance Processing Command (USMEPCOM). This position will be remote with occasional travel to USMEPCOM HQ in Waukegan, IL. We provide enterprise IT support to USMEPCOM, a Major Command of the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), which screens and processes applicants into the U.S. Armed Forces. USMEPCOM operates 65 Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS) across the U.S.

The Quality Assurance & Test Automation Engineer supports the Applications team responsible for building new features and modernizing applications related to processing candidates enlisting in the Armed Forces. This role involves providing automated tests to ensure the development team’s capabilities meet or exceed customer requirements.

This is an opportunity to collaborate with software development and DevSecOps teams to ensure high-quality software delivery to USMEPCOM. In a highly collaborative environment, you will offer feedback to streamline development and automate testing. You may also interface with end users to demonstrate software capabilities and identify areas for improvement. As an experienced QA & Test Automation Engineer, you may provide support and guidance to other team members.

Responsibilities

Successful candidates will possess recent knowledge and hands-on experience with:

• Creating, maintaining, and managing test plans, test suites, estimation, and test artifacts within a test management system for manual and automated testing.
• Building, deploying, and running containerized workloads across different environments.
• Providing developers with a consistent testing infrastructure and automated tests to ensure code meets customer needs and maximizes test coverage.
• Interfacing with engineering teams and leadership to identify and refine relevant test coverage.
• Understanding deployment scenarios, upgrade paths, and dependencies across internal customer-facing teams.
• Designing and documenting test plans, scenarios, scripts, or procedures.
• Providing feedback to developers on functionality and usability.
• Understanding how components of the Applicant Processing System (APS) integrate, with focus on testing, security, and quality.
• Tracking new features and design changes, implementing corresponding testing strategies.
• Collaborating with teams to resolve issues involving test automation.
• Experience with Selenium, AWS cloud architecture, and tools like JIRA and Confluence.
• Reporting and tracking bugs through to resolution.
• Strong communication skills in technical and business contexts.
• Expertise in testing web applications.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Strong programming fundamentals, experience with Selenium and Java preferred.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools (e.g., Git, Terraform, Ansible).
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitLab.
• Experience with Kubernetes or Docker.
• Ability to quickly contribute to production codebases.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, and GitLab.
• Driven by excellence and quality.

Required Education, Certifications, and Clearance:

• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Active Security+ or IAT Level II Certification.
• 8+ years of experience with automated scripting using Selenium.
• At least 4 years working with Agile development teams.
• Excellent communication skills, including with clients and management.
• Ability to train clients in testing and automation.
• Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
