Job summary

Sedgwick is seeking a Field Auto Appraiser - Catastrophic Loss to inspect, identify, and evaluate autos involved in losses. You will travel to inspection sites to appraise vehicles and prepare estimates using estimatics software, working with repair facilities to determine repairs or salvage.

Ideal candidates have 2 years of related experience, including at least 1 year in appraisal, and strong knowledge of automobiles, along with solid Microsoft Office and communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; licenses as required by state guidelines.
• Two years related experience, including at least one year appraisal experience.
• Strong knowledge of automobiles and ability to use appraisal software.
• PC literate with Microsoft Office; strong organizational and negotiation skills.

Field Auto Appraiser - Catastrophic Loss

• Cedar Rapids/Davenport, IA, Minneapolis, MN, St. Louis, MO, Kansas City, MO or Denver, CO

PRIMARY PURPOSE :

To inspect, identify, and evaluate auto vehicles involved in a loss.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

• Appraises and determines costs of repairs to damaged vehicle in the field; determines repair versus replace and parts utilization.

• Evaluates and determines if the vehicle is repairable or salvageable based on industry standard estimatics software.

• Travels to inspection locations to appraise vehicles in the field.

• Prepares estimates using estimatics software.

• Works directly with auto repair facilities to determinate supplemental repair processing and provides a supplemental estimate.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Travels as required.

• Catastrophe Deployment & Ongoing Field Expectations Prior catastrophe (CAT) appraisal experience is a strong plus for this position. The role may require deployment in support of CAT operations, particularly during peak summer months. Deployments can involve extensive travel, extended work hours, and temporary relocation based on business needs. During non‑CAT periods, colleagues are expected to consistently manage daily appraisal volume within their assigned home territory , demonstrating strong time management, autonomy, and adherence to productivity and quality standards. Candidates located in or near Cedar Rapids/Davenport, IA, Minneapolis, MN, St. Louis, MO, Kansas City, MO or Denver, CO are especially beneficial, as these markets support sustained daily claim volume and require the ability to effectively manage workloads when not deployed for CAT events.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Licensing

High school diploma or GED required. Licenses as required by state guidelines.

Experience

Two (2) years of related experience to include at least one (1) year of appraisal experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
