Job summary

Stantec is seeking an archaeological technician to support survey, testing, data recovery, and monitoring across multiple office locations with extensive travel. The role is full-time, temporary, and project-based, with rotations and lodging provided for non-local deployments.

Ideal candidates have a BA in anthropology/archaeology, field school experience, and familiarity with ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123. Expect fieldwork in remote areas and disciplined, proactive collaboration with teams.

Qualifications

• Phase I survey experience preferred.
• Phase II/III data recovery experience preferred.
• Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Field Maps and ArcGIS Survey123.
• Knowledge of land navigation using a compass.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record; comfortable driving a pickup or equivalent to projects.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Detail oriented, resourceful, self-motivated, proactive.
• Willing to travel frequently for extended periods.
• Post-employment drug testing may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform archaeological fieldwork tasks including surface survey, shovel testing, and excavation.
• Support data collection, monitoring, and reporting for projects.
