Job summary

A global consulting firm is looking for temporary/on-call Archaeological Field Technicians to assist with projects mainly in Virginia and Maryland. Responsibilities include field surveys, artifact identification, and extensive travel is required. The ideal candidate should have a background in archaeology or anthropology and be adaptable to varied conditions. Competitive compensation and individual hotel stays provided.

Qualifications

• Adaptability to work in various weather conditions.
• Extensive travel with overnight stays required.
• Valid driver’s license needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist with archaeological field surveys using various methodologies.
• Record and evaluate soils using color and texture.
• Identify historic and prehistoric artifacts according to standard collection procedures.

Skills

Interest in cultural resource management

Ability to work independently and in a team

Ability to conduct fieldwork in rugged terrain

Knowledge of safety regulations in the field

Education

Bachelor’s degree in archaeology/anthropology
