Job summary

SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking Cultural Resources Technicians for Gulf Coast Region field-based work, with projects across generation/renewables, transportation, water, oil and gas, and land development. Assignment runs through April 2027, with priority for Texas/Louisiana.

Position involves extensive fieldwork, driving, safety compliance, and field data collection alongside a project archaeologist and field lead. Compensation is project-based with per diem and travel considerations.

Qualifications

• Accredited Field School Certification.
• Ability to travel, walk, and conduct fieldwork for long hours in variable weather.
• Ability to carry equipment and supplies up to 40 pounds.
• Current valid driver’s license and ability to operate a 4wd vehicle on rough roads.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete archaeological surveying and field testing.
• Conduct shovel test pits and excavation units.
• Execute data recovery and field recording.
• Complete field forms, digital photography, and in-field mapping.
• Assist with archaeological office and lab work.
• Participate in GPS data collection in the field under supervision.
