Job summary

SWCA Environmental Consultants seeks two Cultural Resources Technicians to join our Cultural Resources team in the New Mexico/Four Corners subregion, based in Albuquerque. You will support pedestrian archaeological survey and excavation in New Mexico, with travel to project sites as required. This is a temporary, hourly, non-exempt position.

Round-trip travel from Albuquerque to project areas, lodging, and standard per diem are provided. Wellness time is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field.
• Completion of an accredited Field School Certification.
• Knowledge of ArcGIS software programs.
• Current valid driver's license and ability to safely operate a 4wd vehicle on rugged backcountry roads.
• Ability to travel, walk and conduct fieldwork for long hours in inclement weather, rugged terrain, and high altitudes; able to carry equipment up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assists with the completion of technical project tasks in field, laboratory, or office, including data collection, processing, documentation, and quality control.
• Supports assessment of cultural values and resources and potential impacts to inform avoidance, minimization or mitigation strategies.
• Communicates effectively with team members and supervisors to meet client requirements and project goals.
• Follows directions, safety and quality protocols, and established procedures to complete tasks with accountability.
• Follows applicable regulations, standards and specifications.
• Performs related work as assigned.
