Job summary

Terracon is seeking an Archaeological Field Technician to support surveys, testing, and excavations. You will follow safety protocols, assist in documentation, and help identify artifacts and stratigraphy under supervision.

The role emphasizes fieldwork, data recording, and equipment maintenance, with opportunities to collaborate across project teams and gain hands-on experience in archaeological practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology or related field.
  • Completion of an archaeological field school from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
  • Basic knowledge of artifact identification, soils, and stratigraphy.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Able to use Global Positioning Systems
  • A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Support archaeological fieldwork including surveys, testing, and excavations.
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects; participate in pre-task planning.
  • Maintain quality standards on all projects.
  • Assist with survey, excavation, artifact collection and basic documentation.
  • Identify artifacts and record stratigraphy on standard forms.
  • Assist more senior staff with other tasks as needed.
  • Maintain equipment and communicate findings to Crew Chief.
