Job summary

South Dakota Bureau of Human Resources in Chamberlain, SD, is seeking a GFP Intern – Cultural Resources Site Monitor for a summer session (May–August) to monitor sites along the Missouri River region. YouWill document site conditions with photos and notes, and work with agency staff, landowners, and engineers.

The role favors candidates with archaeology coursework and ArcGIS/GPS familiarity, and the ability to travel to remote areas, sometimes alone.

Qualifications

• Course work in anthropology/archaeology or related field.
• Background with GPS and ArcGIS is highly beneficial.
• Ability to navigate remote areas on foot, by ATV/UTV, or boat.

Responsibilities

• Monitor designated cultural resource sites on Wildlife Division lands.
• Document conditions with written notes and photos.
• Collaborate with Wildlife staff, landowners, USACE and SD Archaeological Research Center archaeologists.
