Job summary

ERM is seeking an Archaeological Field Technician to support survey efforts for projects located in Fresno, CA. The role involves field surveys, monitoring, and data collection, with a six-month limited-term contract and potential extension.

Ideal candidates hold a BA in Anthropology or related field, have 2+ years of field experience, and are capable of extensive travel. Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123 is preferred, along with a valid driver's license and willingness to

Qualifications

• B.A. in Anthropology or related field required; M.A. preferred.
• 2+ years of field experience in cultural resources management.
• Willingness to travel extensively across California and neighboring states.
• 1+ years of construction monitoring experience.
• Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123.
• Ability to work outdoors in varied weather and terrain.
• Valid driver’s license and off-road driving experience.
• Crew lead/chief experience preferred.
• Qualified to serve as an NPS and/or BLM Field Director in CA, NV, or AZ preferred.

Responsibilities

• Walk long distances across varied terrain and lift equipment up to 50 lbs.
• Conduct archaeological monitoring during construction to minimize impacts to cultural resources.
• Document and update records of newly recorded resources and sites.
• Maintain and submit accurate field notes.
• Coordinate and communicate with ERM staff, clients, contractors, and subconsultants.
• Adhere to health and safety policies and project requirements.
• Conduct shovel testing and other subsurface excavations and related duties.
