Job summary

ERM is seeking an Archaeological Field Technician for survey efforts around Bishop, CA. This full-time, limited-term role (6 months, extendable) supports field surveys and construction monitoring with a 40-60 hour workweek.

You will conduct shovel testing, record and update resources, and communicate with project teams while adhering to safety policies. Travel across Northern/Southern CA and beyond may be required, with a driver’s license essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of field experience in cultural resources management.
• Willingness to travel extensively throughout California and neighboring states.
• Valid driver's license and ability to drive and operate in remote areas.

Responsibilities

• Walk long distances (up to 10 miles/day) across varied terrain and lift up to 50 lbs of equipment.
• Conduct archaeological monitoring during construction to minimize impacts.
• Document newly recorded cultural resources and update existing records.
• Maintain and submit accurate field notes and reports.
• Coordinate with ERM staff, clients, contractors, and subconsultants.
• Follow health and safety policies and project requirements.
• Conduct shovel testing and other subsurface excavations, and screen soils.
