Job summary

ERM is hiring Archaeological Field Technicians to participate in on-site cultural resource mitigation during construction across Northern Nevada and Southern Idaho. The role supports mitigation, compliance, and data collection under the supervision of crew chiefs and PI staff, with emphasis on safe fieldwork in rugged environments.

The position is full-time (60-72 hours/week), for 6 months with possible extension, requiring a bachelor’s in archaeology/anthropology and at least two years of field

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or closely related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of field technician experience in Great Basin archaeological fieldwork.
  • Experience with mitigation for infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with Section 106, NHPA, and BLM, NV, and ID agency permitting requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, document, and evaluate archaeological materials, features, and isolated finds with supervision.
  • Follow instructions on excavation techniques and recordation.
  • Maintain compliance with permit conditions and environmental commitments.
  • Complete daily field notes and collect GPS data as instructed.
  • Collaborate with ERM and subconsultants’ cultural resources teams.
