Job summary

ERM is hiring Crew Chiefs to participate in and lead on-site cultural resource mitigation during construction projects in Northern Nevada and Southern Idaho. The role requires strong field judgment, effective communication, and the ability to work safely in active construction environments.

The position is full-time (60-72 hours/week), limited-term for 6 months with potential extension, reporting to archaeologists and project managers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of Crew Chief experience in Great Basin archaeological fieldwork.
• NV Crew Chief statewide permit for prehistoric and historic.
• Experience with mitigation for infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with Section 106, NHPA, and agency permitting in NV/ID.
• Ability to identify prehistoric and historic materials.
• Experience with GPS, Survey123, ArcGIS or similar tools.

Responsibilities

• Safely and effectively leading field teams.
• Follow project treatment plans and communicate changes to the PI.
• Document and evaluate archaeological materials and provide in-field NRHP eligibility assessments.
• Implement unanticipated discovery procedures per permits.
• Coordinate with project managers and cultural resource leads in real time.
• Maintain compliance with permit conditions and environmental commitments.
• Complete daily logs, field notes, and photographic documentation.
• Ensure data quality control for field technicians.
