Job summary

ERM is hiring Archaeological Field Technicians to participate in on-site cultural resource mitigation during construction in Northern Nevada and Southern Idaho. The role involves collaboration with ERM and subconsultants to identify and document resources and implement avoidance measures, while maintaining regulatory compliance.

The field technician will work in varying field conditions, with a focus on safety, data collection, and effective communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Archaeology, Anthropology or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of field technician experience in Great Basin archaeological fieldwork.
• Experience with mitigation for infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with Section 106, NHPA, and BLM, NV, and ID agency permitting requirements.
• Ability to identify prehistoric and historic-period archaeological materials.
• Experience using GPS units, Survey123, ArcGIS, or similar field data collection tools.

Responsibilities

• Identify, document, and evaluate archaeological materials, features, and isolated finds.
• Follow instructions from cultural leadership on excavation techniques and recordation.
• Execute work while maintaining compliance with permit conditions and environmental commitments.
• Complete daily field notes and collect GPS data.
• Work with crew to support project progress while ensuring safety.
