Job summary

Brevard County Property Appraiser is seeking an entry-level technical position under supervision to collect and verify data from real property for ad valorem appraisal purposes in Titusville, FL. The role involves field measurements, sketching, photographing improvements, and using aerial photography to support property assessments.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, basic computer skills, and good communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED; no experience required.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
• Basic mathematics skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide).
• Valid Florida driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
• Mental alertness, self-motivation, attention to detail and surroundings; ability to adapt to various working conditions, indoors/outdoors.
• Ability to communicate professionally and express ideas with respect and courtesy.
• Problem-solving skills in decision-making and communication.

Responsibilities

• Measures and draws improvements; records characteristics of improvements and notes per Field Operations manual.
• Identifies improvements, measurements, structural elements, additions or demolitions to buildings and features.
• Utilizes aerial photography to assist in identifying and measuring property improvements.
• Photographs all improvements on parcels and creates/updates building sketches.
• Determines accurate measurements of improvements to residential properties on site.
• Communicates with property owners in a polite and professional manner.
• Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
