Job summary

CRFS, a Motorola Solutions business, seeks a Field Applications Engineer to bridge engineering and customer teams in the US. You will support RF systems, train users, troubleshoot complex equipment, and assist with deployments and field operations.

Responsibilities include on-site and remote support, training, diagnostics, and collaboration with sales to demonstrate capabilities while ensuring equipment readiness and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• RF concepts and test equipment familiarity (Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers, multimeters).
• BS in Electrical Engineering or Telecommunications; military tech school accepted in lieu of degree.
• ESD handling in static-sensitive environments.
• Networking knowledge including TCP/IP, subnets, VLANs, and hardware configuration.
• General computer skills and proficiency with specialized software/OS environments.
• Active US service military member with ability to obtain DoD SkillBridge approval.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-tier technical assistance remotely and on-site to CRFS customers.
• Deliver training on system operation and software usage to end users.
• Perform diagnostics and advanced repairs on CRFS equipment.
• Deploy to customer locations to support installation and integration of CRFS gear.
• Develop test plans and project reports to support field activities.
• Support Sales with system demonstrations and technical advice to help close deals.
• Manage demonstration equipment inventory and ensure calibration and readiness.
• Relay field feedback and feature requests to internal teams for product improvements.

Job Description

CRFS is seeking a Field Applications Engineer who will report to the Manager of the US FAE Team on the US Field Applications Engineering team. The successful candidate will serve as the primary technical bridge between CRFS engineering and our diverse customer base — providing expert-level support, hands on training, and troubleshooting for complex RF systems and networked solutions. The following represents the current essential functions of this position. CRFS leadership may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities at its discretion.

Responsibilities

• Customer Support: Provide high-tier technical assistance remotely and on-site to ensure mission success for a diverse range of CRFS customers.
• Technical Training: Maintain and deliver comprehensive training to end users, ranging from basic system and software operation to advanced system use.
• Diagnostic Troubleshooting: Perform diagnostics and high-level repairs on CRFS equipment both in the office and in the field.
• Field Integration and Support: Deploy to customer locations to support, configure, and assist with the installation of CRFS equipment.
• Technical Reports: Develop test plans and summary project reports to support customer exercises and field activities.
• Sales Support: Support Sales Teams with system capability demonstrations and technical advice to advance sales objectives.
• Inventory Management: Proactively manage all demonstration equipment and inventory to ensure it is calibrated, updated, and ready for deployment at all times.
• Feedback Loop: Act as the voice of the customer, relaying field data and feature requests back to the appropriate internal teams to drive product improvement.

Travel Requirement

Up to 50% travel, primarily domestic with some international, to customer sites and trade events.

Perform other related duties of which the above are representative.

Preferred Qualifications

• RF Expertise: Solid understanding of RF concepts (frequency, power, spectrum analysis) and proficiency with test equipment such as Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers, and multimeters.
• Education: B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field. Relevant military technical school experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• ESD Skills: Experience working on static-sensitive equipment in ESD-controlled environments.
• Networking Knowledge: Basic to intermediate networking skills including TCP/IP, subnets, VLANs, and hardware configuration.
• Technical Literacy: Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with specialized software and standard OS environments.
• Basic Requirements Must be an active US service military member with the ability to gain approval for DoD SkillBridge program.
• Travel Requirements Under 25% Relocation Provided None Position Type Experienced.
