Job summary

The client is seeking an Application Engineer who thrives on solving complex technical problems and working directly with customers across the sales, product development, and field support spectrum.

The role blends engineering with customer-facing activities, requiring a strong electrical/electronics foundation, field experience, and the ability to communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences. Expect field installations, debugging, and ongoing system support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years of hands-on field, applications engineering experience.
• Experience in oil & gas, mining, power generation or similar environments.
• Familiarity with sensor technologies and industrial networks.
• Knowledge of Modbus, 4-20mA, relay logic and other industrial protocols.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to translate technical information to non-technical audiences.
• Strong technical writing and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop deep product and application expertise across industrial markets.
• Partner with sales to understand customer requirements and recommend solutions.
• Translate customer needs into manufacturable system and product solutions.
• Configure standard products to meet application requirements.
• Design customized solutions using internal and third-party technologies.
• Perform engineering calculations and technical analysis.
• Serve as primary technical contact throughout sales and implementation.
• Communicate product capabilities to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Create application drawings, technical docs, specs, and training materials.
• Support system design, testing, installation, commissioning, startup.
• Troubleshoot equipment and systems in field or via remote support.
• Provide training to customers and sales teams.
• Test new and existing equipment against specs.
• Evaluate new products for field readiness.
• Feedback to engineering on product performance and improvements.
• Participate in design and development of new products.
• Coordinate outside engineering resources as needed.
• Accompany sales on customer visits and tech presentations.
• Support responses to RFIs and RFQs.
• Identify opportunities for future products and growth.
