Job summary

Verso Recruitment Group is seeking a Field Applications Engineer with VPX expertise to support aerospace, defence, and high-performance embedded computing customers in the Los Angeles area. You will bridge engineering and end users, guiding system integration, delivering demos, and providing on-site technical assistance.

Travel to customer sites across the LA region and nationwide as needed; diagnose hardware and software issues in the field, and produce clear documentation and integration

Qualifications

• Experience with VPX architectures, modules, and backplanes.
• Strong background in high-speed embedded systems, SBCs, chassis management, and ruggedised computing.
• Background in aerospace, defence, or mission-critical embedded systems.
• Ability to diagnose complex hardware/software issues in the field.
• Confident communicator able to translate technical detail into practical guidance.
• Experience supporting customers, integrators, or engineering teams in a field or applications role.

Responsibilities

We’re looking for a highly skilled Field Applications Engineer with strong experience in VPX-based systems to join a growing team supporting customers across aerospace, defence, and high-performance embedded computing. You’ll act as the technical bridge between engineering teams and end users - solving problems, guiding system integration, and ensuring customers get the best out of cutting-edge VPX platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Required Experience & Skills

• Solid understanding of high-speed embedded systems, SBCs, chassis management, and ruggedised computing
• Background in aerospace, defence, or mission-critical embedded systems
• Ability to diagnose complex hardware/software issues in the field
• Confident communicator able to translate technical detail into practical guidance
• Experience supporting customers, integrators, or engineering teams in a field or applications role

Nice-to-Have

• Familiarity with SOSA, OpenVPX, or related standards
• Knowledge of Linux, RTOS, or embedded firmware
• Experience with system-level testing, validation, or qualification
• Understanding of networking, PCIe, high-speed interconnects, or FPGA-based systems
