Join a technology leader delivering advanced embedded computing, FPGA/DSP, RF, and signal-processing solutions for demanding aerospace, defense, and industrial applications. As a Field Application/Sales Engineer, you will serve as a trusted technical partner to customers and regional sales managers, guiding engagements from requirements discovery and pre-sales solution design through implementation and ongoing support. This fully remote, customer-facing role requires frequent regional travel and offers the opportunity to work with mission-critical open-architecture computing technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with regional sales managers to support customer engagements and drive technically sound solution recommendations.
- Gather, clarify, and document customer requirements for complex embedded computing, FPGA/DSP, RF, and signal-processing applications.
- Translate customer needs into technical requirements, product recommendations, and application-focused solutions.
- Present product capabilities, technical roadmaps, demonstrations, and application information to customers and prospects.
- Act as the primary technical bridge between customers, sales teams, and internal engineering organizations.
- Provide pre-sales technical support throughout the sales cycle, including solution positioning, technical discussions, and proposal support.
- Support customers through implementation and provide ongoing technical assistance as needed.
- Help customers select appropriate solutions for aerospace, defense, industrial, and other mission-critical environments.
- Maintain strong customer relationships by taking ownership of technical challenges and delivering responsive, customer-focused support.
- Travel regularly throughout the assigned territory for customer visits, including overnight and multi-day trips.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience in field applications engineering, technical sales engineering, systems engineering, or a similar customer-facing technical role.
- Strong understanding of hardware and software integration in embedded computing systems.
- Strong knowledge of FPGA/DSP-based embedded hardware.
- Strong understanding of RF and analog technologies.
- Experience gathering customer requirements and translating them into technical requirements, product recommendations, or solution designs.
- Experience providing technical sales support and collaborating effectively with sales managers or account teams.
- Ability to present technical products, capabilities, roadmaps, and solutions to customers.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Customer-focused, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Ability and willingness to travel 50% or more, often approximately two weeks per month, including overnight and multi-day customer visits.
- Experience supporting aerospace and defense customers is preferred.
- Familiarity with open-architecture computing platforms and standards such as VPX/OpenVPX, SOSA, MOSA, PCIe, and GPU/graphics computing is preferred.
