Job summary

MP NEXLEVEL LLC seeks a skilled fiber optic technician to prepare, splice, test, troubleshoot, and document installations in data centers and outdoor environments. Strong hands-on fiber experience and the ability to read splice schematics and project docs are essential.

You will perform fusion splicing, prepare and organize cables, run Tier 1 and Tier 2 tests with OLTS and OTDR, troubleshoot high-loss events, and maintain detailed records. Travel to project sites and safety training are required.

Qualifications

• Two+ years hands-on fiber prep, splicing, and testing in field, data center, ISP, or hyperscale environments.
• Experience operating OTDR, OLTS, and visual fault locator equipment.
• Knowledge of fiber cable construction, color codes, connectors, splice trays, and labeling.

Responsibilities

• Perform fusion splicing on various fiber types and counts as required by projects.
• Prepare, secure, and route cables within splice enclosures, trays, and panels.
• Conduct Tier 1 and Tier 2 testing with OLTS and OTDR equipment.
• Troubleshoot high-loss events, broken or crossed fibers, and documentation discrepancies.
• Read and update splice matrices, cable schematics, and engineering documents.
• Coordinate with foreman, project staff, customers, and field crews to support schedules and quality.
• Maintain accurate daily documentation and equipment records.
• Inspect tools, vehicles, and test gear; report deficiencies and ensure safety.
• Follow safety requirements and complete required training; travel for extended projects.
