Job summary

IQ Fiber is seeking a Fiber Network Locator to perform skilled field work locating underground fiber optic cables and utilities. You will use electronic locating gear and manual tools to mark locations and verify infrastructure, supporting safe construction and maintenance.

You will work with design and construction teams, maintain accurate as-built records, and communicate with internal teams, regulators, and the public.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 2 years of experience operating utility locating equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret as-builts, blueprints, diagrams, sketches and maps of underground utilities.
• Must have valid driver's license with clean record and pass background/driving checks.
• Proficiency with computers and reporting.
• Strong situational awareness and judgment in emergencies.
• Able to work outdoors in varying weather and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Utilize electronic locating equipment to locate and mark underground fiber optic cables and utilities; expose infrastructure as needed.
• Provide accurate, safe locates per procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Update as-built records, timesheets, reports, and diagrams for maps.
• Communicate with customers, internal departments, regulatory agencies, and the public.
• Assist Construction Technicians with cabinet certifications and related duties.
• Respond to overtime, emergencies, and field needs as required.
• Maintain safety compliance near energized equipment, water, and sewer utilities.
