Job summary

Hardy Industries is seeking skilled Fiber Testing and Splicing Technicians to support our national client base. You will perform OTDR testing, fusion splicing, troubleshooting, and fiber certification across diverse environments, from retail to data centers.

The role offers a 1099 contractor position with travel across a broad territory, on-site testing, and opportunities to expand your fiber and networking skill set while collaborating with clients and project teams.

Qualifications

• Fiber testing and troubleshooting experience required.
• Experience with OTDRs, power meters, light sources, fiber certification equipment, and visual fault locators.
• Understanding of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic systems.
• Familiarity with structured cabling standards and best practices.
• Ability to read network diagrams, splice schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
• At least 1 year of Fiber, IT, or Telecom experience, or 5+ years field experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of fiber optic tasks including splicing (fusion/mechanical).
• Conduct OTDR, power meter, light source tests and fiber certification.
• Identify faults, inspect connectors, replace jumpers, and test installations.
• Document test results, splicing records, and project deliverables.
• Work across various facilities and maintain professionalism with clients and stakeholders.
