Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Fiber Technician II / Fiber Splicer to install, splice, test, troubleshoot, and maintain fiber optic networks across client environments. This role operates with moderate independence and supports project delivery.

You will mentor junior technicians and collaborate with internal teams and vendors to ensure successful execution. Hands-on experience with fiber cabling, fusion splicing, testing, and deployments in fast-paced field environments is essential.

Qualifications

• 2–3+ years in fiber optic, telecom, or network infrastructure.
• Experience with single-mode and multimode fiber.
• Ability to read splice diagrams and fiber schematics.
• Proficient in fusion splicing and cable termination.
• Familiarity with ISP/OSP environments.
• Safety certifications (CFOT, NFPA 70E) preferred.

This individual will be responsible for the installation, splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of fiber optic networks while operating with moderate independence. The role will support project delivery, mentor junior technicians, and partner with internal teams and vendors to ensure successful execution. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with fiber optic cabling, fusion splicing, fiber testing, and network infrastructure deployments in fast-paced field environments.

Skills and Requirements

• 2–3+ years of experience in fiber optic, telecom, network infrastructure,


• Hands-on experience with fiber optic cable installation, routing, termination, and fusion splicing


• Experience performing fiber testing and troubleshooting using tools such as OTDRs, light source/power meters, VFLs, and fiber certification equipment


• Strong understanding of fiber optic network standards, cable management, pathway installation, and industry best practices


• Ability to read and interpret splice diagrams, fiber schematics, test results, and technical documentation


• Associate's degree or equivalent technical/military experience


• Experience with single-mode and multimode fiber, MPO/MTP connectivity, and fiber distribution systems


• Familiarity with both inside plant (ISP) and outside plant (OSP) fiber environments


• Experience with structured cabling installations, including copper and fiber infrastructure


• OSHA, CFOT, BICSI, FOA, NFPA 70E, or other relevant safety/industry certifications
