Job summary

Cable Services Company, Inc. is seeking a Fiber Splicer to join our crew in the Wilkes-Barre area. This traveling role requires frequent overnight travel across the Northeast, with local assignments being the exception.

Responsibilities include installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining fiber optic systems, reading maps and schematics, and performing fusion splicing with OSP coordination. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years' experience splicing all types of fiber optic cables.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience working in a bucket truck at heights above 30–40 ft.
• Proficiency using fusion splicers, OTDR, optical power meters, fiber identifiers and related tools.
• Ability to distinguish between colors.
• Experience reading design maps, fiber schematics and basic electronic designs.
• Must possess organizational skills and be detail oriented.
• Must be able to move materials/equipment weighing up to 80 pounds.
• Ability to maintain a positive attitude and work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, and maintain fiber optic system.
• Prep and hang fiber optic enclosures, nodes and related equipment.
• Route, splice and terminate fiber in equipment racks at central offices, hub sites or inside buildings.
• Work with OSP Project Manager to perform fusion splicing as directed.
• Read design maps, fiber schematics and basic electronic designs.
• Operate aerial lift and related equipment to perform job functions.
• Be on-call for emergency restoration.
• Complete required company documentation (timesheet, truck report, expense report).
• Maintain assigned company vehicle, tools, materials and equipment.
