Job summary

Bigham Cable Construction is seeking a hands-on Fiber Splicer for outdoor field work in Asheville, NC. You will fuse optical fibers to maintain our telecommunication network, with duties that include upgrading and testing circuits and ensuring reliability in all weather.

Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED, be 18+, authorized to work in the U.S., and able to pass a DOT medical exam. Training and comprehensive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required or equivalent work experience.
• 6 months splicing experience or 1 year in telecommunications preferred.
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company.

Responsibilities

• Perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, aerial and underground.
• Test, activate, troubleshoot post-installation circuits.
• Ensure splicing operations meet customer and industry standards.
• Safely work at heights and in varying weather conditions.
• Complete daily vehicle maintenance and checks.
• Document work in daily production reports with material usage records.
• Other duties as assigned.
