Job summary

Aerotek is hiring a Fiber Splicer in Cedar Rapids, IA for a contract-to-hire role. You will perform fusion splicing on single-mode and multi-mode fiber, install and terminate cables, and manage splice records and test results on various projects.

Ideal candidates have fiber splicing experience, proficiency with OTDR/OLTS and fiber testing equipment, and the ability to read schematics and construction drawings. This onsite position offers long-term opportunities and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• Fiber optic splicing and termination experience.
• Experience using OTDR, OLTS, power meters, and fiber testing equipment.
• Ability to read fiber schematics, splice diagrams, and construction drawings.
• Experience troubleshooting fiber optic networks and connectivity issues.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and job site best practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform fusion splicing on single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables.
• Install, route, organize, and terminate fiber optic cables and related infrastructure.
• Build and organize splice trays, enclosures, cabinets, and fiber distribution equipment.
• Conduct fiber testing using OTDR, OLTS, power meters, and other testing equipment.
• Troubleshoot signal loss, damaged fibers, and connectivity issues.
• Read and interpret fiber schematics, splice diagrams, blueprints, and construction drawings.
• Maintain accurate splice records, test reports, and project documentation.
• Coordinate with project teams to complete work safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
• Inspect and maintain tools, vehicles, and testing equipment.
• Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and quality standards.
