Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is seeking a Fiber Splicer to join our field team. You will splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber networks, operate OTDR and splicing equipment, and work on outdoor utility sites to support our fiber infrastructure buildup.

You will read fiber documentation, assess light levels and loss, and contribute to high-quality installations with safety as a priority. This role involves varied shifts and on-site work across outdoor sites.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience.
• Comfortable working on ladder or bucket truck.
• Safety focus and high quality workmanship.
• Willingness to work long shifts with overtime.

Responsibilities

• Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks.
• Operate all testing equipment and resolve common fiber network issues.
• Prepare fiber splice enclosures (Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc).
• Utilize fusion splicer and OTDR (1310/1550, DWDM, CWDM, OLTS).
• Fiber design knowledge, reading docs, light levels, and dB loss.
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites.
