Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is seeking a skilled Fiber Splicer to join our outdoor field teams. You will test and troubleshoot fiber optic networks, operate testing equipment, and prep splice enclosures at various sites.

This role requires hands-on problem solving and a safety-first mindset in outdoor environments. Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of fiber splicing experience, are comfortable with ladders or bucket trucks, and willing to work varied shifts with overtime.

Qualifications

• At least 3–5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience.
• Ability to climb ladders or bucket trucks and work on outdoor sites.
• Safety-focused with a track record of high-quality work and hands-on problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks
• Operate all testing equipment and be adept at resolving challenges common to fiber optic networks
• Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures (Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.)
• Utilize fusion splicer, test equipment OTDR 1310/1550 DWDM/CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter
• Fiber engineer knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding light levels, and dB loss
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites
