Job summary

MasTec Communications Group seeks a Fiber Splicer to build and maintain end-to-end fiber optic networks on outdoor utility sites. You will test, troubleshoot, and install splices, operating fusion splicers and OTDR equipment to ensure high‑quality connectivity and reliability.

You bring 3–5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience, a hands-on approach, and comfort with ladder or bucket trucks.

Responsibilities

• Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks.
• Operate all testing equipment and resolve challenges common to fiber optic networks.
• Prepare fiber splice enclosures (Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.).
• Use fusion splicer, OTDR (1310/1550), DWDM/CWDM, OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter.
• Apply fiber design knowledge, read documentation, and understand light levels and dB loss.
• Work on outdoor utility construction sites.
