Job summary

Bigham Cable Construction, Inc. in Hickory, NC is seeking a Fiber Splicer to support our telecommunications network work.

Under guidance, you will perform aerial and underground cable upgrades and splicing, ensuring compliant, high‑quality connections for customers. Ideal candidates have at least 6 months of splicing experience or a year in telecom, a valid driver's license, and the ability to pass a DOT physical.

Qualifications

• 6 months of splicing experience or 1 year in the telecommunications industry.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to pass a DOT medical exam.
• Knowledge of telecommunications network structure.
• Authorized to work in the United States for this company.

Responsibilities

• With guidance, perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground
• Test, activate, and troubleshoot the network's circuit post-installation
• Ensure all splicing operations meet strict customer and industry standards
• Safely navigate working at different heights, from underground to in the air
• Complete basic daily maintenance of vehicles, including fluid checks
• Document work performed through daily production reports, including marking up maps and keeping correct material usage records
• Other duties as assigned
