Job summary

E2 Optics, a leading technology integrator, is seeking a skilled fiber splicing technician in Houston. The role involves installing, terminating, and splicing high-count fiber cables in data-center environments. You will read splice records, follow blueprints, and work across multiple shifts with possible travel.

Strong safety focus and teamwork are essential. Requirements include a high school diploma, OSHA 30 within two weeks, and fiber-splicing experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• OSHA 30 within first 2 weeks of role.
• BICSI Installer 2 Fiber certification preferred (must be earned once hired).
• 3+ years work experience in structured cabling, installing, terminating, and splicing.
• Minimum 1 year work experience in a fiber splicing role or industry-related construction.
• Single and Ribbon Fiber splicing experience required.
• Experience with ISP and OSP.
• Read, write, and understand English.
• Able to distinguish color codes with the ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Windows based programs.
• Knowledge of EXFO OTDR and EXFO OLTS testing.
• Ability to listen carefully to and follow instructions.
• Demonstrated ability to be proactive, dependable, and manage time at the jobsite.
• Demonstrate accountability for safety, quality, and productivity.

Responsibilities

• Read and understands splice records and can effectively splice fibers per records.
• Assist the project team with installation activities as needed.
• Terminate and breakout outside fiber.
• Pull and splice OSP high-count fiber optic cables.
• Maintain job site organization and basic housekeeping.
• Organize materials, tools, and equipment; collect debris and address hazards.
• Read and interpret floor plans, drawings, specifications, and cut sheets.
• Familiarity with structured cabling materials and installation methodologies.
• Travel as required (5% overnight in some regions; can be 50%+ in others).
• Ensure compliance with customer security requirements.
