Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems seeks a Fiber Optics Manufacturing Engineer to develop, scale, and continuously improve fiber optic processes in Devens, MA and Somerville, MA. Collaborate with fiber optic specialists, production techs, design engineering, quality, and supply chain to move from development to reliable production.

You will translate hands-on fiber optic expertise into robust processes, tooling, documentation, and process controls that ensure high quality and yield across production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in fiber optics or related areas.
• Experience with fiber optic handling, splicing, testing.
• Strong problem-solving and continuous improvement skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve fiber optic manufacturing processes.
• Transition R&D products into repeatable production.
• Define process parameters and inspection methods.
• Create manufacturing documentation and SOPs.
• Support capacity planning and equipment needs.
• Lead continuous improvement and RCCA projects.
