Job summary

Conterra Ultra Broadband in Longview, TX is seeking an Outside Plant Tech I to support fiber deployment and maintenance across aerial and underground networks. You will assist in construction management, splicing, testing, and equipment installation under division standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year fiber optic field splicing experience.
• Working knowledge of modern fiber splicing techniques for telecommunications.

Responsibilities

• Assist in day-to-day outside plant fiber network deployment tasks, including construction management, progress reporting, maintenance and record keeping.
• Assist in preparation and splicing of fiber enclosures, panels, bonds/grounds and test fiber optic equipment to division standards.
• Perform ring cuts and butt-splices on live fiber without affecting existing services (aerial and underground).
• Help perform fiber tests with OTDRs, light source and meters.
• Assist in installation of fiber optic communication equipment and inside plant patch panels.
