Job summary

Cable Services Company in Wheeling, IL is seeking a Fiber Splicer to install, troubleshoot and maintain fiber optic systems across multiple projects. The role requires frequent travel, overnight work, and weekend on-call for emergency restoration.

The candidate should have at least 2 years of fiber splicing experience, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to read maps and schematics. A valid driver’s license and clean driving record are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience splicing all types of fiber optic cables.
• Ability to pass a criminal background screen and drug test.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Work at heights in excess of 30-40 ft in bucket truck.
• Read design maps and fiber schematics accurately.
• Must be able to move materials up to 80 pounds.
• Must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Willing to travel overnight and perform on-call duties.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, and maintain fiber optic system.
• Prep and hang fiber optic enclosures, nodes and related equipment.
• Route, splice and terminate fiber in racks at central offices or hubs.
• Perform fusion splicing as directed with project managers.
• Read design maps and fiber schematics; operate related equipment.
• Work with aerial lifts and related tools; on-call for emergencies.
• Complete all required documentation; maintain tools and vehicle.
• Perform duties safely and follow company policies.
