Job summary

Public Utility District No. 1 of Chelan County is seeking a Communications Lineman to install and maintain overhead and underground fiber optic systems.

You will perform splicing, operate related equipment, and ensure safety compliance under RCW/WAC requirements, possibly working with or without supervision while supporting fiber optic crews. Responsibilities include installation/splicing, tool management, driving, and general construction tasks.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of transmission, broadcasting, switching, control, and operation of telecommunications systems.
• Requires good interpersonal skills to interact and communicate with customers and contractors.
• Requires ability to perform construction and splicing practices for the installation and splicing of the overhead and underground fiber optic system.
• Performs routine maintenance on equipment and fiber optic systems.
• Requires experience and interpretation abilities of construction drawings and construction and operating instructions.
• Ability to climb poles or towers.
• Must be proficient in reading, writing and speaking English.

Responsibilities

• Perform installation and splicing of the overhead and underground fiber optic system.
• Manage tools and equipment for fiber optic installations and maintenance.
• Drive a vehicle and assist in wire pulling and general construction.
• Maintain attendance and comply with safety procedures and RCW/WAC rules.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support fiber optic operations.
