Job summary

Verizon in Boston is seeking a field technician to install, test, repair and maintain the fiber technology that keeps customers connected. You will be part of a team delivering reliable network performance and supporting critical communications daily.

The role requires a valid state driver’s license, and candidates with an associate degree or 2+ years of relevant experience, or completion of Verizon’s Technician Program, are preferred. Training and field assessments are part of the process.

Qualifications

• Valid state driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Related Associate Degree or 2+ years' relevant experience.
• Completed Verizon Technician Program or similar programs covering electrical or lineman training.

Responsibilities

• Connecting, disconnecting, testing, repairing, maintaining, installing and rearranging Company and customer-provided equipment, inside wiring, and wires at poles, underground or building terminals.
• Making necessary preparations required for splicing, rearranging and terminating cable conductors.
• Installing, repairing, maintaining, and testing access lines for all types of equipment and technology.
• Operating trucks and equipment needed to perform work operations in a safe manner.
• Reading and interpreting engineering plans and vendor specifications.
• Climbing ladders and poles, working aloft, perceiving differences in wire and cable colors, and distinguishing audio tones.
• Working evenings, weekends, holidays and unscheduled shifts as determined by the needs of the business.
