Job summary

Verizon is seeking a Field Operations Technician to install, splice, test, repair and maintain the fiber network at defined locations. You will contribute to keeping millions of customers connected and ensuring network reliability.

Responsibilities include installing and maintaining equipment, following engineering plans, and working various shifts. A valid driver’s license is required, and a related associate degree or 2+ years’ experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Installing, splicing, testing, repairing and maintaining equipment and wiring as part of Verizon’s fiber network.
• Be part of a team ensuring reliability and performance of communications services.
• Ability to work with engineering plans and vendor specifications.

Responsibilities

• Connecting, disconnecting, testing, repairing, maintaining, installing and rearranging equipment and wiring at poles, underground or building terminals.
• Making preparations for splicing, rearranging and terminating cable conductors.
• Installing, repairing, maintaining and testing access lines for all types of equipment and technology.
• Operating trucks and equipment safely for work operations.
• Reading and interpreting engineering plans and vendor specs.
• Climbing ladders and poles, distinguishing wire colors and audio tones.
• Working evenings, weekends, holidays and unscheduled shifts as needed.
