Job summary

Vyve Broadband is seeking a skilled Fiber Optic Technician to perform field maintenance and splicing, ensuring high-quality plant integrity. You will work with engineers to splice, test, and document fiber routes, creating accurate reports for asset tracking.

Qualified candidates will have 2+ years in fiber optics, OTDR testing, and the ability to read fiber documents and power meters. This role is based in non-urban markets and offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Two+ years of experience with fiber optics.
• Ability to test and record findings of OTDR highly necessary.
• Must be able to read an optical power meter to determine optical light.
• Must have the ability to properly read fiber documentation and interpret fiber descriptors

Responsibilities

• Fusion or mechanical splice SM/MM fiber optic cables.
• Perform fusion splicing as directed by engineers/project managers.
• Read fiber documentation and identify fibers in enclosures.
• Install fiber enclosures and term panels.
• Install CWDM/DWDM filters and differentiate one/fiber solutions.
• Use Fiber OTDR and Fiber Optic Scope for measurements.
• Use optical power meter with correct wavelength and levels.
• Provide detailed reports of field splicing activity and path documentation.
• Maintain fiber asset inventory and keep equipment clean.
